标题:案例分析作业:EBay的PayPal很是成功,有没有人可以给大家搞个案例分析?

任何美国成功的BUSINESS MODEL在中国马上就有人模仿,YAHOO也好,GOOGLE也好,EBAY也好,AMAZON也好。。。。
但EBay的PayPal到现在没看到有人模仿(也可能有,但我不知道。如果是这样,提示一下),大家讨论讨论PayPal的Business Mdoel是怎么样的?在中国可以不可以模仿?如果模仿,在中国有什么困难?
就当一个讨论题,大家讨论讨论!

标题:quiet a few companies want to be another paypal in china,

I'm in this business and know quiet a few companies want to be another paypal in china, paypal is about to enter china by the year end and is talking with china unionpay about VA, while like people said, tax, language, payment channels ,service systems are the bottleneck.I think some domestic payment services companies have more advantages to build thier own business with this model, instead of paypal itself.
the law about e-signature issued recently in china would very much accelerate the paypal model, and as far as its industry resources like eachnet or whatever is concerned, another auction site www.taobao.com doesn't have payment services partners yet, what if it work with other online payment gateways?
20+ payment gateways are running in china e-commerce market, they are well doing with tax, language, payment channels ,service systems , members etc, for them, the work need to do is just launch the VA services of their own, could be easier.
now, the key point is who is faster.

Business Title: Finance Project Manager, China
Primary Job Responsibilities
(List and describe the essential responsibilities of the position for which the individual is held accountable)
Payments (PayPal) is one of eBay’s three revenue-generating business units, in addition to eBay US and eBay International. With the mission to “Build the web’s most convenient, secure, cost-effective payment solution”, PayPal is well on its way to continuing its fast growth within eBay. Working within the Payments’ Financial Planning Analysis (F,P A) team, this position will partner with the China business unit management to provide financial analysis and business decision support for Payments’ China operations. This position will report to the Payments International F,P A senior manager.
The candidate will be expected to:
Drive optimal decision making through extensive financial, quantitative and strategic analysis;
Manage the financial planning and budgeting process for Payments’ China operation;
Pull and analyze data from a variety of sources to create both regular and ad hoc reporting for senior management;
Partner with business unit management to regularly identify and evaluate financial issues and opportunities;
Develop and deliver presentations on China strategy and results.
The position will be based in Shanghai, China. Initially, the candidate will be expected to reside in San Jose, California for up to nine months. During this time, the candidate will train on the PayPal business while supporting the China effort and other Asia-Pacific initiatives.
Job Requirements
(Knowledge, skills, abilities, experience required to perform job)
5-8 years finance work experience in a high growth, multi-national company and with minimal supervision;
BA/BS and MBA or advanced finance related certification required;
Bi-lingual in Chinese and English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Superior intellectual and quantitative analysis capabilities;
Superb attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
Advanced technical skills in all of the following areas are required: financial modeling in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting and planning systems, and PowerPoint.
Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate high energy/creativity, a relentless customer-focus, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

标题:Palpal的模式在国内应该很有前途

实际上PP的客户服务是大有问题的,尽管从理论上说买方可以得到PP的保护,实际操作中PP提供的服务相当少。但由于PP的用户群体非常大,想在EBAY上卖东西的个体必须用PP才能有足够多的bidder,而且PP向卖方收的手续费相当高。
PP的主要长处就是一个:先发优势。结合EBAY的绝对优势地位,使得后来者非常难以进入,比如CITI等都有类似的服务,但都无法挑战PP.
类似PP的模式在国内会非常受欢迎,不仅仅是拍卖,小额邮购,个人交易等都可以使用。但国内尚未出现PP的原因,我想可能是因为这种交易主要集中在几个沿海发达城市,用户可以当面交易,或者城市间的快递托收服务,加上国内信用卡还不是很普及,支付手段有限。
不过从长远看,如果有一个中间机构可以托收款项,然后确认货物收到,再把货款转到卖方帐户,应该会非常受欢迎。
中国已经有了模仿者了:支付宝,很多人以为支付宝是从淘宝派生出来的,其实大家看看支付宝的网站,英文名字叫“ALIPAY”,也就是为了支撑阿里巴巴的,会和paypal硬扛的。

PP制造了非常强劲的现金流。以后完全可以像UPS一样开展对中小企业贷款的金融服务。UPS那个服务是这样子的:工厂通过UPS出货给某商店,UPS到工厂上门取货时就把货款先pay了,然后,UPS把货物送到商店手里时再运费和货款一起收。这样本来小小的运输费就带来巨大的货款流,极大地增强了UPS在这个物流链上的地位。
再加上GE开的好头,所有的钱能够在某个时区下班后从财务调出做另外一个时区的金融运作,再在原时区第二天上班前调回。
这样看,以后就是大家要抢钱。谁手上有钱谁就赢。
